The center supports problem-oriented research that seeks to improve the educational experiences of Urban Children and communities. Specifically, the center houses 3 distinct but related research strands:
1) the study of Language, culture, and human development
2) the social and cognitive consequences of educational policies and practices
3) the study of new and empowering pedagogies, e.g., decolonizing pedagogies.
In addition, the center offers programs to K-12 students that are based on the center’s research:
1) UCLinks, (Las Redes), after-school club
2) the UCLA Statewide Migrant Student Leadership Institute
